Review: I have been in love with myths, legends and fairytales since I was a little kid, so imagine my excitement when I discovered this book. It checked all the boxes for me... well initially. This book at times was definitely tragic, mesmerising and romantic but, although the way Aimee Carter used the Greek myths was sort-of fresh, I don't know if it completely worked for me. Lets just say there were good and bad points of this book.
Kate, as a heroine, was the heart of the story and straight away I felt an emotional connection with her. She was a very good believable heroine and the romance between her and Henry was slow, passionate and at times sweet. I adored reading about her falling in love, even though we didn't get to see as much of the process as I would have liked. (*SPOILER* Their late nights were so cute! But... a bit naughty at times, hehe. My kind of thing!)
I think the bad point of the story comes from the way the Gods and Goddesses were portrayed. I'm not going to tell you how and who they were because that would be spoiling a huge part of the story. But I will tell you this, they were just not GOD-LIKE for me. They're meant to be powerful and scary...and they just weren't. So that was a disappointment. We never even got to see much of that Hades-side of Henry and I really hope we get to see that in the next book.
Overall, I thought it was a really easy book to read and I don't mind reading the next book and hoping it gets a lot better!
